  • imbue | Pop & Modern Art Gallery | NL Galerie | Salzburg

imbue Imbue was born on January 19, 1988 in London. He spent his childhood in the county of Kent in south-east England. The artist remembers that he was always creative, which his father tanked. Imbue's first street art experiments in Brighton included numerous techniques using colour, marking and printing techniques to achieve his unique style. By 2009 he had made a name for himself as an artist and had his first solo show 'A World Gone Mad' at Brighton's Ink-d Gallery. As a contemporary artist, he plays, provokes and drives themes and well-known icons of the current landscape. These are mini-sculptures of Coca-Cola-come-Virgin Mary that aim to change the way we think. Imbue: Art was the only subject that felt natural and comfortable for me in school, so I stuck with it. Years later I became obsessed with graffiti and street art and realized it wasn't just about oil painting and the more traditional art styles. I found it exciting and it felt like there were no street art rules that worked for me. The DIY ethos meant I could just join in and not have to wait for someone else's permission. I started making posters and stickers, then some of my work was kept in a gallery and it went from there. Although some artists might not want to say it, making money from my art was a defining moment for me and realizing I could do what I enjoyed for a living. Now also in the NL gallery.
